How to make a miniature crochet hook

There are several handmade Christmas ornaments that I have made that have instructions for making miniature knitting needles, but not a miniature crochet hook.

This is one idea of how I have made a miniature crochet hook for small projects.

Simple Twine Decorative Jar

Make a decorative jar by simply using a recycled glass jar, some twine, and a glue gun.   These jars sell in stores for a pretty high price, and you can make them at home for much less.

Crafting glue in general may work, but you'll need a way to hold the twine in place while it dries (depending on the thickness of the twine).

However, the jar you see in the first photo was created by using tacky glue.  The twine was purchased at a dollar store, and was a perfect texture of twine that held tight to the glue (lighter weight).

Quick Fix for Odd Places ~ Flour or Alfalfa Sack Curtains

I recently added hardware to some odd, two tone, miss-matched cupboards in our kitchen.  The last owner, put in two different types, upper and lower, and two different colors (and no hardware on most of them).

At the ends, of this cupboard space of drawers, are small cubbies.  They are difficult to use and keep clean from dust.

Easy Scrap Fabric Project

Glass jars can always be recycled at recycling center, but they can be repurposed for gift giving, home and craft storage, homemade beauty products and more.

Glass jars usually have metal lids, that can be spray painted.  I do suggest to spray a clear coat to seal the paint.  Those lids are much more attractive when they've been embellished with scrap fabric. The above lid is a baby food jar lid, spray painted in silver, then sealed with a matte clear coat.

Simple Way to Re-Purpose Metal Vintage Coffee Filters

I recently gave my antique coffee pot collection a new use, but had the metal filters leftover.

One will now hold sticky notes and paperclips.

How did I make this?

Decorate Baskets with Scrap Fabric

Scrap fabric can be used to decorate flat surface baskets.  The baskets can be useful in home storage, decorating, and for gift giving. Place a potted plant inside for an added touch.

The above basket, is over ten years old, and it's still looking good.  Over the years it's been used for many different reasons, and still useful.

Recycle Old Book Pages

Old book pages have many possibilities when it comes to crafting and art.  Newspaper may work for this as well.

Here are a few more ideas to share with you:

Now that you know you can recycle a Christmas card or gift card into templates, use those templates to cut shapes from old book pages.

Organize with Fabric Scraps and Embroidery Hoops

I was busy cleaning my bathroom, and kept finding bobby pins here and there.  I decided to figure out a way to organize them, keep them handy, out of the drawers and off the counters.

These are not only easy to make, but fun to decorate with, and keep small items organized.

Here is how we made them:

Make Templates Using Christmas Cards and Gift Cards

Recycle unwanted Christmas cards, or any gift card, into crafting templates.

Use the front for other crafts (click on the label "Christmas Cards" for ideas), and use the back for the template.

Cards are typically strong enough for this use.

1.  We printed a template pattern from the internet, and cut the pattern from paper.   You can skip this step if you wish to use a stencil or hand draw your pattern.
